Ginger Souffle Salt Bars

A new addition to our soap line is the ginger souffle scented salt bar. Salt bars are one of our hottest selling items. They start out with a bit of a scrub, but after a couple of uses, they become smooth and hard like a river rock. They produce a creamy lotion-like lather that just feels great on the skin. As promised, more soap!

Here are the rest of the new soap pictures. I am sure I mention this a lot, but Dylan sure can take nice pictures of soap. Luckily all he "charges" me is for his regular shower/shampoo soap and the occasional shaving soap. Pretty good deal don't you think?

This first soap is my Sensitive skin bar. It is made with all kinds of oils that are great for sensitive skin. This bar feels so smooth in the shower, I just love to use it.

This soap hasn't actually changed in look, but we took some new photos anyways. This is Lavender Shea. It has a nice calming scent and smooth texture. If you look closely you can see the tops are brushed with a purple mica to give them some shimmer.

Up next is Jewelweed and Comfrey. It is made with olive oil infused with both of the herbs. Very nice bar of soap and these herbs are reputed for getting rid of the oils from a poison ivy bush.

This is my Jasmine Salt bar. Lovely scent and pretty color. The salt is a fine grain so it does not scratch. It makes a nice lotion-like lather.

Now to make some ginger souffle salt bars! Just need to decide how to make them look...any suggestions?

French Clay and Ginger Cream Soap

I just received my containers for a bunch of new items I will soon be adding to my store. They are all a little smaller than I expected. I may get 16oz containers in the future instead of 8oz. The picture below is of my French Clay and Ginger Cream soap in one of my new containers. It also shows one of my new labels (though I forgot to change the net. weight from that of my lip balm...haha lucky I only printed two labels). I really love this cream soap. I just put a little dab on my mesh poof and wow...so much lather! Plus the ginger smells great and it feels nice as a facial soap too. I think it would also make a great shaving soap, though I have yet to try it out as such.

Cream Soap

I made a basic cream soap recipe from a class on the yahoo group cream soap making a few weeks ago. I was getting really concerned because it had not thickened up...I was about to buy some boric acid to thicken the soap. I decided today that maybe it needed to be whipped. So I put it into my kitchen aid and mixed for about 30 minutes. It ended up turning into a thick marshmallow fluff-type texture (without the stickiness). You can see below the initial water type texture of the soap.
Below is a photo when it thickened up. It is like a cool whip texture...dense but fluffy cream.I added French green clay and ginger souffle FO to this part of the cream soap batch. Dylan tried it out and thinks it is really cool. I can't wait to see what it does with a mesh sponge in the shower.

Ginger Honey Sugar Scrub

I used up all of my last sugar scrub and decided to make a new one tonight. This one I increased the amount of sugar in an attempt to decrease the amount of oil that accumulates on top of the scrub when it sits. I also left out the cocoa powder that I used last time and I scented it with a honey ginger FO. It smells really great. I can't wait to try it out tomorrow. I have become totally addicted to these scrubs. I love the way they leave a slight trace of oil on your skin that acts like a lotion. My skin really looks and feels much softer in just 2 weeks. I think next time I will make a cranberry sugar scrub. I have a sparkling cranberry FO and some cranberry fruit fiber that I think would go great in a scrub. It would probably turn out pink so it would be super cute, too! I was also thinking of changing the cocoa butter to shea butter just to try out different combinations. Here is a picture I took of the scrub.

Goals for tomorrow

Okay so I have a lot planned for tomorrow. I want to try out a recipe for natural deodorant that I saw on craftster.org posted by Spa Therapy Works. I have been waiting to get the deodorant containers that I needed and I received them on Thursday so I am ready to give it a try. I also want to make another sugar scrub since I am totally addicted to them now. I was thinking of doing a ginger scent. Maybe I can grate in some fresh ginger as well. I will have to see if I have a ginger FO in my work area. If I have time and all the ingredients I think I will also try a bath bomb, but I am not sure that I have any good bath bomb molds. I also plan to go to the pottery studio for studio hours and finish trimming some pieces and maybe throw some more pots. I just got my first pots back last weekend. The glazes look really nice but the pots show that I am clearly a beginner. I will post some pictures soon so you all can have a good laugh. I also need to run to the post office and I am kinda in the mood to do some shopping. I was thinking new jeans would be nice. What are you all doing this weekend?
